Department of Industrial Engineering – DIEF

The Department of Industrial Engineering was established in 2013, essentially through the merger of the two industrial area departments of the University of Florence, the Department of Energetics ‘Sergio Stecco’ and the Department of Mechanics and Industrial Technologies.

The Department’s research activities embrace the fields of industrial engineering, covering its main cultural, scientific and professional aspects. 

The common goal of research is to achieve original and significant results for real technological innovation. The Department supports and promotes collaborations with internationally renowned Research Centres and Universities, both Italian and foreign. It also contributes to technological growth through the activation of conventions for research and development activities with Italian and foreign companies and organisations.

Department of Agriculture, food, environment, and forestry – DAGRI

The Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies (DAGRI), created on 1 January 2019 from the merger of the two pre-existing structures, the Department of Management of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Resources (GESAAF) and the Department of Agri-food Production and Environmental Sciences (DISPAA), represents the only Department of the University of Florence’s agrarian area.

All 20 SSDs of agrarian sciences (AGR), as well as BIO/03 (Environmental and Applied Botany) and IUS/03 (Agricultural Law) are afferent to DAGRI. It is the second largest department of the University of Florence in terms of size and activity; the staff includes approximately 120 lecturers and 60 technical/administrative staff, 50 PhD students, 70 research fellows and 40 scholarship holders.

The Department’s facilities are located in various locations, including the Cascine, Quaracchi and Sesto Fiorentino complexes, via Donizetti and via Maragliano. The DAGRI is divided into 10 sections representing each competence.

Goals Technologies

Goals Technologies is a Sicilian company that deals with the design and implementation of software solutions and IT services for public and private sector companies.
The company was founded in Marsala (TP) from the more than 30 years’ experience in the sector of Vincenzo La Sala, CEO of Goals.

PIN s.c.r.l.

PIN is a consortium company with a majority non-profit public participation. It was established as an association in 1992 and on 3rd June 1999 it became a limited liability consortium company (S.c.r.l.).
PIN supports itself financially through contributions, agreements with partners and external bodies, and the implementation of research and training projects. In the elaboration of these conventions, the new University was opened up and opened to dialogue with the Society and the Institutions, which was desired by everyone.

In 2003, PIN obtained the ISO 9001 quality certification. With this recognition, PIN is proposed as a subject with advanced knowledge and operational skills, able to organize services for teaching and research at a qualitatively high level.
